Education and Training

Ms. Joanna Bielecki received her Bachelor diploma in Microbiology from the University of Toronto and continued developing her education at Faculty of Information also at the University of Toronto, where she received her Master of Information Studies degree. She further expanded her skills with continuing education course on how to design an e-learning program at the University of Toronto, and professional development courses in systematic review and meta-analysis at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, and another offered by Health Sciences Library System, at University of Pittsburgh. She is committed to continue her professional development activities and expand her skills further by continually seeking educational opportunities.

Research Interests and Expertise

Ms. Bielecki work experience included employment at various microbiology laboratories, including federal research labs at Agriculture Canada and Health Canada in Ottawa, Ontario. Her library experience consists of work at several academic libraries at the University of Toronto and a corporate library at the Insurance Bureau of Canada. Presently working as a Research Librarian at THETA Collaborative, she provides specialized medical reference and information services focusing on locating medical literature and performing expert searches of scientific literature to support systematic, rapid, scoping and realist reviews in the area of health technology assessment, health services research, and clinical trials. As a solo librarian at THETA she also provides a personal research guidance and support to the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation faculty and students in all aspects of systematic review process, general library consultations and access to medical information. Ms. Bielecki role at THETA includes records management, maintenance of THETA staff publications and THETA reports. Ms. Bielecki interests and knowledge in systematic reviews; reference; records, data and knowledge management help her contribute to a variety of projects at THETA. Her interest in digital communication technologies proved useful in design and maintenance of THETA website, and promotion of THETA Collaborative in social media sphere.
