Biostatistician (Faculty)
Current Position and Professional Functions
Dr. Mitsakakis is a Biostatistician of THETA and an assistant professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, University of Toronto. His role in THETA includes statistical support for cost effectiveness analysis, field evaluations and decision modeling, and research and development of new statistical methodologies arising from THETA projects. Dr. Mitsakakis is also affiliated with the Department of Anesthesia at the Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network.
Education and Training
Dr. Mitsakakis holds a PhD degree in Biostatistics from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, focused on Bayesian methods for Gaussian graphical models. He also holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mathematics (University of Athens, Greece) and a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence (University of Edinburgh, UK).

Research Interests and Expertise
Research interests include statistical methods for mapping descriptive psychometric instruments to utility instrument scores, approaches to modeling censored cost data, Bayesian methods for estimation of disease specific net cost using aggregated data and applications of graphical models to health economics and biostatistics.
