Education and Training

Doug completed his undergraduate and MD/MBA degrees at the University of Alberta before starting clinical residency in Urology at the University of Toronto. He is a fourth year Urology resident in the Surgeon Scientist Program. His previous clinical and research experience has largely focused around uro-oncology as well as brief industry experience while completing his MBA.

Research Interests and Expertise

Doug’s interests include further exploring healthcare economics within uro-oncology and reconstructive urology to better understand how healthcare outcomes can be delivered in an cost effective, patient centric manner. For his thesis, Doug is interested in exploring decision models surrounding the decision to pursue prostate and renal biopsy in the detection of cancers, oncologic outcomes, and their corresponding economic burden.
