Education and Training

John completed his BHSc (Honours) (Biomedical Sciences Specialization) at McMaster and his Doctor of Medicine at UBC. He is currently completing a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Toronto in the Clinician Investigator Program. His clinical interests include thoracic, cardiac, and critical care anesthesia.

Research Interests and Expertise

John’s research interest is in the evaluation of tools and protocols applied to the management of critically ill and perioperative patients. Some of his past work has evaluated patient outcomes for regional anesthetic in wrist surgery, same-day discharge protocols for parathyroid surgery, and preoperative transfusion-sparing treatments of anemia. His current projects evaluate costs and patient outcomes for lung transplant and related technologies.
