About Us:

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University is dedicated to the expert application and teaching of epidemiological and health services research methods, and to the discovery of new research to improve population health.  Dr. Piotr Wilk is leading a program of research aimed at assessing the direct and indirect effects of long-term exposure to environmental risk factors on chronic conditions, hospitalizations, and emergency department visits in urban areas across Canada.


Responsibilities:

The project leads are Dr. Shehzad Ali and Dr. Ava John-Baptiste. The overall aim of this project is to evaluate empirical evidence, identify gaps and develop recommendations for incorporating social determinants of health (SDH) and related equity considerations in models of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project consists of a systematic review of the published literature to determine how COVID-19 infectious disease models examine SDH factors such as race/ethnicity and economic status, a decision modeler survey, a decision maker survey, and a guideline development process. The project manager will alleviate the administrative burden of the project leads, facilitate communication amongst project team members and arrange meetings with team members and stakeholders. The project manager will also assist the team with project activation requirements, preparing meeting materials and assisting with online meeting arrangements. The PM will oversee the work of research assistants to ensure project milestones are met, to ensure delivery of the systematic review within established timelines, and to ensure data validity. The project manager will prepare research ethics board submissions and assist with development of surveys. The project manager will assist with development of surveys, prepare written reports, including academic papers for peer-reviewed journals.


Applicants should have experience conducting systematic literature reviews.

Qualifications


Education:

-   Masters degree in a relevant related area of study (preferred); however, candidates with undergraduate degree but significant professional experience will also be considered.


Experience:

-   Three years of research experience (preferred)

-   Previous project management experience (preferred)

-  Previous experience of working in a team (preferred)

-   Experience with survey design (preferred)

-   Experience conducting literature reviews and using reference management software

-   Experience writing academic papers and preparing papers for peer-reviewed journals
