Current Position and Professional Functions

Dr. Joseph Beyene is a biostatistician Scientist in the Research Institute of the Hospital for Sick Children and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in Department of Public Health Sciences and Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. Dr Beyene also holds the position of an Assistant Professor (part-time) in the department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University.

Research Interests and Expertise

His current areas of research include statistical methods development and application for data integration, meta-analysis, statistical genomics and predictive modeling. Dr Beyene coordinates the activities of the Biostatistics Methodology Unit (BMU) at the Research Institute, The Hospital for Sick Children, an interdisciplinary unit with a focus on research, education and advocacy of biostatistical and epidemiological methods. His research is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Health Research, Genome Canada and MITACS.
