Current Position and Professional Functions
Shawn Xie is a health economist at Health Quality Ontario (HQO).
Education and Training
He completed his undergraduate study in Medicinal Chemistry at Beijing Medical University, China, and obtained a MSc degree in Public Health from the University of Southern Denmark, focusing on health economic evaluation. After that, he received the statistical programming training, and obtained the Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9. Prior to joining HQO, he worked at the Technology Assessment Unit (TAU) of McGill University Health Center, Montreal and THETA. He contributed to a number of projects on HTA, cost-effectiveness analysis and meta-analysis for medical devices, healthcare program, diagnostic tests and medications.

Research Interests and Expertise
His research interests include the economic evaluation of diagnostic test(s), decision-analytic model for the long-term outcomes (i.e. Markov model and discrete event simulation), and Bayesian meta-analysis.
